Outlook Q4 2021 Smart factory – Connectivity Enhanced Vehicle Production
Working on EV systems and architectures that are rapidly evolving means that traditional approaches to minimize vehicle production costs may not be appropriate. Low-cost sources of power in addition to availability of workforces with appropriate skills can mean moving factories from traditional regions to new greenfield shovel ready locations.
The opportunity to combine greenfield sites with the promise of 4G/5G private networks to deliver sustainable, flexible and cost-effective manufacturing is high on the priority list of many OEMs. Especially since great connectivity is an essential capability to exploit the benefits of AI, robotics, AR, cloud computing, digital twinning, 3D printing and automation.
Against this background we conducted a connectivity survey in the first half of 2021 to understand how the industry was approaching factory connectivity, what is important and who was influencing the direction. The presentation by Steve Bell, Principal Analyst – Connectivity, Wards Intelligence will address some of the results from an upcoming report.

Outlook Q4 2021 The New and Used Vehicle Market: What are the Questions?
Paul McCarthy’s presentation provides an economist’s perspective on demand, supply, and the connection between new and used vehicles gleaned from over 25 years of modeling at Ford and Ford Credit. He will make a case for an alternative perspective on leasing and used vehicle price dynamics, and highlight the importance of financing conditions on vehicle demand. His overall framework will help in understanding recent developments, while also shedding light on how the market may evolve with the rollout of electric vehicles.

Outlook Q4 2021 Wards Intelligence Barometer
Haig Stoddard, Principal Forecaster, Forecast & Analytics, Wards Intelligence reviews the current North America sales and production outlooks for 2022, as well as summarize the impact of the ongoing global supply chain disruptions, spurred mostly by the shortage of microchips. The presentation also dwells deeper into answering questions related to the timing of when the industry can get production and inventory in sync with strong demand and how well each major manufacturer is handling the supply-chain disruptions.

Outlook Q3 2021: Wards Intelligence Barometer
Haig Stoddard, Principal Forecaster, Forecast & Analytics, Wards Intelligence presents the September 2021 North America Barometer will review the current sales and production outlooks for the rest of 2021 and Q1-2022, as well as summarize the impact on sales and production still being caused by ongoing supply chain disruptions, spurred mostly by the global shortage of microchips. The presentation also will dwell deeper into answering questions related to the timing of when the industry can get production and inventory in sync with strong demand; what is driving rising sales and how long growth can last; and how well each major manufacturer is handling the supply-chain disruptions.

Outlook Q3 2021: The March Toward an All-Electric World
Tom Murphy, Managing Editor, WardsAuto presents: What’s the state of the art in electrification? And what’s making these electrified powertrains more competitive with internal-combustion engines? What’s next for ICEs as automakers look to raise the bar on performance and efficiency and extend the life of more conventional powertrains? We’ll discuss what we’ve learned from this year’s Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems testing and where we think powertrain technology is headed in the years to come.

Outlook Q3 2021: The Tide of Electrification is Rising
Kevin Riddell, Senior Manager, Powertrain Forecasting, LMC Automotive presents a look at how quickly powertrains will be changing in key regions, as automakers spend billions in the transition to an electric future. What will be the main regulatory drivers, technology advancements and OEM strategies as electrified vehicles replace traditional ICE-powered cars? Will policy changes place the U.S. in a global leadership position on climate change?
